The Sir Peter Blake Trust

Environment

The Sir Peter Blake Trust aims to inspire awareness of the marine environment.

Sir Peter's particular focus for the environment was on water. Having sailed around the world five times and clocked up over half a million nautical miles, he was acutely aware of the deterioration of our oceans and the important role water plays in our quality of life.

The state of our oceans and waterways is just one of the significant challenges facing our world today. Human activity is threatening eco-systems that support all life, both directly and indirectly. We can all make a difference to this decline and every small step helps.

We want to restart people caring for the environment as it must be cared for, and we want to do this through adventure, through participation, through education and through enjoyment.”

— Sir Peter Blake

Sir Peter had a love of the natural world. He was fascinated by the wildlife during his ocean voyages. He believed that if we can only help more people experience the wonders of the world then they will develop respect and care for our natural resources.

It is this passion that consumed him during his final adventures, and it is this passion that the Trust has taken to its heart. We will continue what Sir Peter has begun.

Sir Peter Blake

"Having vision is not enough. Change comes through realising the vision and turning it into a reality. It is easy to espouse worthy goals, values and policies; the hard part is implementation."
