Shannon, 17, will be starting year 13 at Wellington Girls College in 2016 as the executive of the World and Environment committee. Coming from a military family she has lived in New Zealand, Australia and America. Traveling the world has given her perspectives of different cultures and has fuelled her passion for the environment and animal welfare.
In 2015 Shannon helped run a 50 student volunteer effort at Zealandia, encouraging youth to get more involved in conservation. She is currently involved in the introduction of Earth and Space Sciences into Wellington Girls College as an NCEA subject for 2017 onwards, with the aim of extending students scientific knowledge of the world around them.
