Neil, 18, has just finished his last year at Nelson College where he was deputy head boy, head of house, and the leader of the volunteer committee and the environmental committee. In his hometown of Blenheim, Neil has had the privilege of having a family bach in the Marlborough sounds where a strong connection with the flora and fauna developed from a young age.
This year Neil is having a gap year, traveling around Indonesia and Asia with a goal of witnessing the deforestation caused by the palm oil industry. In 2019, he is planning on studying environmental science and ecology. He plans to use the knowledge gained from this to become a research scientist to better understand the impacts climate change will have on ecosystems throughout Aotearoa.
