Yonni Kepes

Yonni, 17, is a student in year 13 at St Andrew’s College, Christchurch. He is a College Prefect and Head of the Senior College Council. In his spare time, Yonni is an avid long-distance trail runner who became the youngest person to finish a 100km trail ultramarathon in 2017 and is the Chairperson of the Hurunui Youth Council.

He is also a Volunteer firefighter in the Waipara Volunteer Fire Brigade and is working towards his Gold Duke of Edinburgh. Yonni is very interested in how rising sea levels are affecting New Zealand and how quickly our climate is changing today. He is also fascinated by the 2050 New Zealand pest-free goal and is looking forward to learning about the work in the Kermadec Islands to protect threatened species.

Next year, Yonni is taking a gap year and is heading to the U.K. to work and spend time travelling through Europe. Eventually he would like to further his love for business and be an entrepreneur.
