Charlotte known as Lottie, 22, is in her last year of a BSc in Biology and Chemistry at Auckland University. Born to an Italian and a New Zealander, she grew up in Italy before moving to New Zealand two years ago to follow her interest in local nature and wild oceans. Her aspiration is to become an ocean explorer and conservation ambassador, raising awareness on conservation issues and climate change.
Hard working and determined, she achieves excellent results in her studies: last semester she was selected to join the research team at the marine biology labs, investigating the effects of ocean acidification on marine organisms. Additionally, volunteer experiences such as a recent work experience on Tiritiri Matangi and other work days have helped her develop a hands on awareness of conservation issues.
Lottie enjoys a busy and active outdoor lifestyle, and in her free time is found either diving New Zealand's beautiful waters, surfing, rock climbing, hiking, or looking at rock pools. She is proud to be a Blake Tara Ambassador and is looking forward to the opportunity to make use of her studies and passion for the oceans.
